Lincoln K-8

District-Wide School

Language Arts Information

Students are graded on reading, writing, and speaking skills. Students can redo assignments for a better grade (unless answers, like on a worksheet, have been supplied). If an assignment does not meet standards, a student may be asked to redo the assignment. Late work is taken for full credit. Grading late work takes lowest priority; I grade current assignments first.

Daily assignments are done in class. Time for projects and papers will be given in class but may need additional time at home. Vocabulary should be studied nightly at home (5 minutes).  Major assignment information and grading criteria are available under the homework button.

Independent Reading
Students are expected to read a book at their level for 30-60 minutes a night. Students will have individual book conferences with Linnea 2+ times a quarter. Student need to read books at their level. See AR points quarterly book log to determine the amount of points needed per level to earn A, B, C, D, F in reading.

New roots, prefixes, and suffixes are given on Thursday. Vocabulary tests are each Tuesday. These are cumulative, meaning each test has any of the vocabulary. Students should study vocabulary at least three times a week, 5-10 minutes a time.
